I thought I'd put this in here as it's been stuck in my head all night, for those of you not fortunate enough to have been born in Canada, here is the Log Drivers Lament

    Lucien MacKenzie

Couldn't think of a stranger, but more Canadian name. "Lucien" represents Canada's francophone culture and language. We know at least one famous Canadian (who wishes he wasn't) named Lucien. The irony of him being the leader of "the Queen's loyal opposition" was not lost on us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucien_Bouchard MacKenzie is, of course, in honour of Sir Alexander Mackenzie, who holds an important part of our history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_MacKenzie

Thank you to all who participated... FYI, I've also been receiving input and feedback from my real-life friends as well as some good folks on another forum. The beaver's name is a mashup of a couple of suggestions I received which I think is apt, since Canada is pretty much a strange mashup of cultures and languages anyway.

Props to canjunscot who came up with Lucien's last name! Your prize is.... Lucien's undying gratitude for helping name him! Thank you!

I still think Steve would have been a good name.

Maybe it's just me, but everytime I see the title to this thread, I think of the "Naked Gun" Beaver joke.

    Don

PS - Even though it's too late, I wanted to suggest either Bob or Doug.

Hehe... Funny thing, that. Lucien was my TA in class today. He helped me teach prepositions of place: in, on, under, etc. The students had to tell me where Lucien was. Eg. "Lucien is under the desk."

They did not too bad, but Lucien kinda got turned into "Lucy" by some of them. And of course, in crappy katakana-English, "Lucy" is pronounced: "Rooshee."

The girls loved him though! They all wanted to give him a big ol' hug!
