Do a search for "sgian don't" and you should find a few threads showing bottle openers (I've made a couple), combs, etc. I think my next build will be a sgian pen.

Have you considered the "Officer's Model" sgian dubh by Gaelic Themes has a 3.5 inch blade with a cork screw, turn screw, and bottle opener in the handle, similar to a Swiss Army knife. Traditional and practical. Oh yes, and with a "clan badge" set into the handle as well.

Instead of a sgian dubh, how about a cell dubh. I usually take my sporran off during class and stash my cell phone like in the pix.
No real holder of sorts, just the cell phone stuck in my hose tops.

The Scottish Tartans museum has faux Sgians Dubh on their sgian dubh page about 1/3 of the way down. I saw someone that was making faux ones out of solid wood, but can't for the life of me find it again....

That was probably Panache.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

This is the only one I've found, but I know there are others. I think the problem with doing a search is that people spell 'Sgians' several different ways.
Edit - Found it! http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...=sgian+don%27t

Yes, but can you put five-hundred-thousand digital books, a collection of classical music, a collection of classical jazz, and thirty nine versions of Chopin's "Prelude in E Minor" on that sgian dubh?
I'm just joking. Were I going to buy a sgian dubh, that one is at the top of my list.

You're talking about the new i-sgian, aren't you?

Yes. But I'm not kidding. I collect digital books and have a huge collection of them ; same with the Jazz and Classical music. Though my classical collection is on the small side right now.
Anyway, I keep copies of all this in a flash drive USB thing that I almost always have with me... just in case. I was thinking of putting one in a sgian don't, then thought about putting it in a sgian dubh with a hollow handle.
Now I'm thinking of making a silver, locket-like fob for my watch that would hold two flash drives (with the retractable USB connectors). Um, just in case.
