    Aye Downix,

Polyviscose tartans are limited at the mill level. PV kiltmakers can only select from what the mill offers.

Of course, if you want tartan selection then you have to go to wool. Rocky and everyone else sewing up kilts can get you any tartan made by a mill in wool.

Then things reverse. Instead of looking for a vendor with your tartan you are looking for the best craftsman to sew your kilt and they will order in your tartan wool fabric.

    My first tartan too

This is a great thread. After a 7-month break from kilt buying I'm also in the market for a tartan one. All the input is leading me towards a USAK casual for its weight, material and reliability.

    Now to choose a tartan...

My birthday is at the end of february and after 4 uk's I am looking for a tartan kilt plus accessories. This thread is great. All that's left is to decide which tartan. This forum is the best.

    That's sometimes the hardest decision

One quick word of caution and/or advice. Generally, I think Rocky cuts the casual kilts to ride, well, more casually (i.e., lower on the hip). When I ordered my first USAK, Rocky agreed to build a casual with the semi-trad style of rise. It can get frustrating when, as you're all used to a traditional rise (well over your navel), and you get one of those hip-hugger jobbies.

(This is not a slam at people who wear their kilts lower; it's just how I feel about things.)
