Hockey fans could justify Maple Leaf as a Toronto fan thing or just as a hockey is Canadian thing. I like their anthem better anyway.

Well just shoot. I just bought 5 m (double width) of the Ulster for a new tank since I've been wanting an Irish tartan and you can't beat that price.
This is all Alan's fault. If my wife kills me, it'll be on his head!

I love the ML tartan (an official Canadian tartan) and it will be my next kilt, but it's just bad timing.
I'll have you know I was alive the last time the leafs won the cup even though I was still in England and...
I digress, for any American concerned aboot wearing the ML without connection to Canada forget about it. We would be more than happy for you to wear our colours. When so many Americans couldn't find Canada on a map, for one to know the meaning and to wear it with pride and respect would be totally awesome.

Note to Colin; I know I've been away for a while and I might not have heard any news but I believe Maple Leaf is still an considered unofficial official tartan (this and Quebec). The only official use is with the Royal Canadian Regiment.

I'll have to leave that to Todd, but I believe it is an official tartan. It is recognized by the federal government along side the provincial tartans. Anyone know this one for sure? Todd? Matt? Barb?

According to the feds website. We should start a letter writing campaign;
Dear federal government of Canada,
Please include as a Canada's only officially recognized hockey team as the Toronto Maple Leafs, further please strike the Montreal Canadiens from any and all registries, as with Vancouver Cannots, Calgary Flameouts, Edmonton Odours and those cheating Ottawa Seniles.
Signed:

Interesting. I had thought it was recognized. Either way a beautiful tartan.
At least the Leafs former captain decided to play for a Canadian team for a while

You failed to demand the repatriation of the Winnipeg Jets, returning to hockey the famed West Side Story rivalry; our San Jose Sharks and the far away Jets. Somehow the Coyotes just doesn't ring the same.

You know I've never liked the Ontario Tartan, but a Maple leaf will be in my future just not now with money being tight.
PS
Go Leafs Go

As a born and breed Winnipeger I agree. Bring back the Jets!
