Kilts from Heritage of Scotland
Has anyone ordered a kilt from these guys? They offer the hard to find Patterson tartan and I'm considering springing for one of their 5 yarders.
If anyone has feedback on them, I'd love to hear it.
Cheers, Adam

I have not ordered any kilts from them, but I did order a regimental dirk, it showed up in about a week and a half, their service was very pleasant and prompt, and everything showed up in perfect condition.

Well it's good to know the service was good. I find that's usually a pretty good recommendation.

I believe that they are part of the Gold Brothers. I have not purchased from them but you might want to search for "gold brothers" on this forum.

A look at their web page indicates Gold Brothers in Edinburgh. Most of their products are off the peg design manufactured in Pakistan. Not always of good quality. Use the site's search engine for "Heritage of Scotland" or "Gold Brothers". Most of it is not very pretty...
As you are new to our piece of the internet.... In the blue bar above is a "Search" button. It is your friend on this forum for all kinds of answers, do not be afraid to use it.

To answer the first question...Run Away! My very first transaction in the kilted world was with Heritage of Scotland AKA Gold Brothers. Bottom line, it was horrible. I've never gone back to them for anything no matter how tempting a product or price looks.
As far as the Patterson Tartan goes, any kilt maker can get the tartan and make you a kilt from it to your specs and measurements. Don't fall for the immediate gratification Gold Brothers is trying to sell you with. Contact anyone of the known kilt makers here and let them make your kilt from much finer materials for probably only a few dollars more.

They are indeed part of the infamous Gold brothers chain. And some of their products and sales tactics have a lot to be desired.
Now, I will admit to having one Gold Brothers casual Kilt which i actually like. It is well made and comfortable and has endured a lot.
And up until a few months ago I would have told you to spring for it and just accept their bad reputation is earned.
HOWEVER... one of their owners recently punched an elderly man who owned a rival Kilt store and this has made me decide that I simply will not ever buy from them again.
So if you want the decent quality and price then go ahead, you will get good service.
But you now know their worst details so you can make an informed choice.
I don't think anyone sensible would think less of you for going with what you can afford at the moment.

I read a lengthy magazine in an American monthly newspaper/magazine on Scotland. It was all about the Gold Brothers and their many business names and ventures. Don't buy anything from these sleazebags.
Turns out they've been selling McCallum pipes for a few years. At least, the pipes said McCallum on the side.
The Gold Brothers warehouse was also inspected by British government officials recently, and those folks found skeins of the Princess Diana memorial tartan. This tartan is (I think) only supposed to be produced by certain mills and (I know for sure) proceeds from its sale are to go to a charitable foundation in her memory. They were producing the tartan and not making any contribution to the foundation. Oh -- and to make things even better, the skeins were marked #53 and #54, meaning that they'd already sold materials and goods from the previous 52 skeins.
These guys should be selling fake Rolex watches in Times Square.

Or how about the way they just started producing their own Isle of Skye, infringing on the creator's design right?

Well I don't have much to add to what others have already said about HOS being part of GB.
You pays your money and you takes your choice, but there are much better and more honestly described budget kilts available.
