Todays fun
Today my Brother, Dad and I went to my where I work part time so my brother (Jon) can get the truck that I was holding for him.
Of course I went kilted in my SWK Weathered McKenzie (standard). The temp was about 28 degrees or so, and my Dad says "You're not very smart are ya?" Of course I play dumb and ask him what does he mean. He then points to the kilt and says that I'm gonna freeze. I play it off, and the three of us head up to the store. Once I get there all the newer ppl are gawking at me in a kilt, I get asked why I'm wearing it, aren't you cold, and when are the "games".
I play it all down and then the general manager asks why am I wearing it, and I give my usual answer; I like wearing kilts, you should try it sometime. That justs gets me a very strange look from him as I walk away.
All in all it was fun, and it was slightly chilly when the wind picked up but the SWK standard is a very warm kilt for milder winter weather.

I was out in 10º weather with a brisk wind in an SWK heavyweight - my knees were a bit cool, but with the wool kilt and wool hose, I was toasty warm. People just don't understand.

Unfortunately I dont have hose yet, so I had on my wool hiking socks scrunched over my Docs, and my legs were fine.
I guess that everyone assumes that because your legs are "exposed" that you would be cold, but 8 yards of heavy material does wonders to retain body heat.

I was asked to help several ladies carry a box up a flight of stairs earlier today...

I can remember when I was much younger (8-12 or so) we would always have Physical Training and sport wearing shorts, wool knee sox and bulky sweaters under light "wind breakers". As long as the temperature was above -10 C (15 F) below that there was the danger of frostbite on our knees. As we were doing calisthenics and playing either soccer or rugby, we kept quite warm.

Friday morning it was -3F here in cincy. I spent about an hour shooting exteriors for a TV show in a corduroy UK (wool hose and my storm cape from Empire Canvas), really not a big deal.

I'm usually fine in the cold as long as my core and head (I'm lacking natural head cover) stay warm.
Most pants are very thin even the winter wool slacks.
