The 8 meters of double width I ordered was because one of our members ask me to order it for him. I didn't want to bother with hemming so ordered a full length. I was thinking to keep the other half as stock.
Although the other half has been spoken for I have not received payment or firm confirmation that it is sold.
So, there is a possibility that I may have an 8meter single width length spare also.

I hope Alex can find some MLT tartan. It is a gorgeous one to wear.
Sara
I also know that Marton Mills is in the UK.
However this all works out, I hope Alex gets a Maple Leaf tartan kilt and Forrester Modern gets a Maple Leaf kilt and everybody who paid for tartan gets tartan and Freedom Kilts sells lots of kilts and Fraser and Kirkbright sells lots of cloth, and everybody's business reputation stays unsullied.
I think I won't mention good deals I find on tartan around the 'net on this board for a while, though.

Thanks for all your good thoughts Alan.
I will continue mentioning good deals as I find them, as I believe in the "share the wealth" approach to life---if I get a good deal why shouldn't as many others as possible get the same, if it is available. Unfortunately sometimes things are in short supply and not everybody gets to jump into the pool.
My offer to Alex is sincere. My gut is that even though I like the tartan and would enjoy having and wearing a kilt made from it (especially a Barb T kilt), that I think Alex may get more pleasure from it than I, so I would like to make sure he gets that opportunity. I already know that I will be sending some other custom Allen 1996 tartan to Barb T sooner or later for a very special Kingussie design kilt that will have special family meaning and joy for me, far in excess of what the Maple leaf would. And to have Barb T herself work her magic on my Allen 1996 one is the icing on the cake for me. Don't get me wrong, the Maple Leaf would be great, but getting it would delay my being able to send Barb the Allen 1996 for my special kilt---can't buy everything at once---so if Alex takes the maple leaf off my hands I will find joy in knowing he is happy, and I will also find it when I can send my Allen to Barb sooner than I could if I had her do the Maple Leaf first. And I will find it a third time when Alex posts his pics of his Maple leaf, and a fourth tiem when I get my Allen back from Barb to post pics for all of you. Joy, joy, joy.

You're a good man, a gentleman, and an asset to X Marks the Scot, as well as to the people in your offline life, I have no doubt.

Thanks for your kind words, Alan. But I am just your average Joe trying to get through the day, doing life in as right a way as I can.

Alan, I personally appreciate your willngness to pass on deals. I'm sure no one holds you accountable for a minor mishap at a reputable producer.
I would never have gotten the Ulster without your kind help, and I personally thank you for your selflessness.
That is, if my wife doesn't kill me. Then it's all your fault!

Alan, as I said in my other post if you had not posted it I would have as soon as I had discovered that it was double width material. You caused no harm, and I am sure allowed a lot of people to get some fabric and eventually a kilt at a good price. Probably put some people into a nice attractive and desirable kilt that otherwise they might not have been able to afford and enjoy.

Alan, I don't think there are any issues among us and we are all grateful for your willingness to pass on information you find. How this is playing out is just another superb example of the generosity, graciousness and willingness to share of folks on this board. We should all be proud of ourselves and each other.

Go ahead and send it off to Barb T so we at least get into her cue for kilt konstruction. make sure you are in front of me. Alex and I are working things out and will keep you and Barb posted as to the end result. He really has a desire for that particular tartan that far exceeds mine and should get it. That's all there is to it. Will be in touch.
