    A successful battledress jacket hunt

A few days ago we had an informative string about how nice an appearance the P37 Brit jacket or the US Eisenhower jacket were with kilts. I was having a really difficult time locating one in my modern US size. I finally came across two sources and wish to pass on the info for future searchers.

The Brit P37 and P40 jackets

is available from Spearhead-Militaria http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Spearhead-Militaria off the ebay site. I think the cost will be about $75 + S/H.

    The american Eisenhower/Vandergriff jacket

Both of these garments are very smart and appropriate with the kilt although I like the American jackets collar and lapel cut. I think both sources will have fabric and colors to choose from
I have edited out the indian source of the jacket above because several Gentlemen on another forum have posted that he is unreliable and has failed to provide garments he has contracted for. The only way one Gent got his money back was because he had used PayPal. Sorry for the conflict.

I've seen several gentlemen in "Ike jacket" dress before, and they always looked good. Even that line sketch in So You're Going to Weat the Kilt looks good, and I don't think one can go wrong with the look.

WPG definitely has big boy sizes, so check them out. They have both the enlisted model ($145) and the officer's model ($175).

Officer's model (try not to look like Patton if you get one!)

    Enlisted Model

You should probably call Jerry to see what the real difference is, but I suspect that the officer's model is made from a little smoother material and has better shape.

If you were to add a shirt and tie with a nice blamoral, you could compete with just about anyone else in the looks department.

HAving had some of Spearhead militaria's german stuff, I am sure that they are ok..but I do know of a few guys who ordered them simply for reenactment "Field" jackets...versus the nice ones from jerry that they keep for "Walking out" uniforms. HOWEVER....the material is VERY light on these from Spearhead, so don't be surprised if they rip seams and actually fabric very easily. The guys who bought them were able to use them at one or two events before things started tearing on them, so if you want it for the look then fine, but if you are looking for something for "warmth" and quality, tehn definately go with the ones from WPG.
    Cheers,
    Chad
