I definitely learned from my first tartan as well. I decided to do much of the work by machine and still had alignment issues(which the rabble were polite enough to overlook at our Burns Supper). I have material for another "practice" kilt before attempting my wool. It's harder than it seems. Do you have "The Book?" Even though I did a lot of machine work, Barb's book was handy to have.

About halfway done with the pleats (working in between calls at work). Should get some posts up shouldn't I?

An update. This morning I picked up the last bits I needed, the straps, from Dunedin Scottish. Got to talking to the owner about their website, about here. Incidentally, he said he tended to skip here as he felt it was too centric around a single vendor. I talked about the main links on the site, and he seemed pleasantly surprised at how things are. Well, who knows. I, for one, love talking to him in person, and would not mind seeing him here either.

GAH! From the time I measured to the wedding, I lost 5 inches around my waist! Last minute alterations to be wearable!

Of course, I finish that (I know, need to post pics) and I find some Dress Stewart wool on ebay...

Holy smokes, working with Wool is a lot easier than the PV!
