Most comfortable kilt

I do find it a bother to try to make sure the pleats look right, perhaps eventually I'll have a box pleat and that will be easier on me...

My PV USAK is hands down the most comfortable kilt I own. Stiff? No way.

Of course I do not work in an office, and likely never will.

And therein lies the rub. I also find very many situations where I am most comfortable in a kilt, and alas, many situations when I wish I were in a kilt but cannot be.

I am currently wearing my 4 yard box pleat, 16 ounce wool kilt in the California Modern tartan quite a lot. I bought the material from Rocky and made it myself and I really like it. If I were to do it over, I'd change how I did the box pleats, though, and make more of them, and smaller.

Yeah, I've got to add that I'm far more comfortable sitting in my box-pleated kilts. If ever a weaver comes up with real 16 oz. PV (in a tartan I like ) that fabric in a box-pleat might just force me to change my mind about office wear. I find PV to be really comfortable fabric. I'm done with acrylics.

There is no pair of trousers that is as comfortable as any of my kilts that fit right. And the psychologically uncomfortable symptoms that you describe go away over time, with wearing a kilt in more places and situations. Of course I do not work in an office, and likely never will. Though I do attend meetings with other folk in offices from time to time.

And it has been noted more than once that my opinion is far from "normal".

I guess I need to find the right one. However, it seems to me that atleast the buckles have to be gone in order for it to fit more comfortably. When you are in an office situation, it is a little different.

I guess I need to wear it more outside of the office. I have never done that. And quite honestly, I am a little scared to do it. I have never seen anyone in my community wearing a kilt. Not sure how they would react.

Hey, was it stiff when you first got it? I am hoping my PV loosens up a little bit after wearing and washing it a few times. USAK seem like some good kilts. Plus they have the exact universal tartan I want.

Well, it's always a bit intimidating the first few times. As I've said before, you'll discover that you have sweat glands in places you never knew existed. Going with a tartan kilt and dressing it up a bit (sporran, hose up, maybe a nice shirt and tie) will ensure that most folks recognize what you've got going on, and make your personal transition much easier.

I find that kilts with two straps are more comfortable than kilts with three.
