So what was the problem? Well, aside from that she wasn't kilted, and thus not relevant to this thread...

DO wear your kilt at an Australia Day BBQ....???
Actually this is me committing a whole bunch of DON'Ts. So I post this for your amusement at my expense.
But it was too hot and humid for hose and broags, and I had drunk enough to think that the leather cutoff was a good match..
(And I'm sure you'll find a few more DON'Ts I didn't think of.)
But I was wearing a kilt and was having fun doing so.
Oh well...

I think your kit looks pretty good. I like the vest (even with the belt)
If that is your Guzzi, then the only don't I see is letting someone else on it!

Yeah, dude... I don't see anything "don't" about your kit there. The leather vest looks cool, and I even wear flip-flops with my kilt (which probably don't look quite as good as your sandal-thingys). When it gets "Africa-hot" and humid, it's the only way to go if you need to wear your kilt. Hell's bells, man- we get 90 degree weather here in late October! Try going to a Highland Games in that fully kitted out!
Good lookin' kilt, too, by the way. What tartan?

Considering where you live and the climate, it all looks pretty sensible to me!

Thanks guys, you are most kind!
The Guzzi was mine, I had sold it to a friend of mine. We were delivering it to her while I was up for the Australia Day BBQ. That's my son sitting on the bike, so that's OK. (I still have a Guzzi, that one was surplus to requirements.)
The tartan is an Irish one... County Kildare.

Nice looking tartan. And you pull off the casual "it's-too-damn-hot-to-wear-wool-hose" footwear. You make it look natural, which is what a kilt is.

It looks good to me. The only "don't" I see is actually wearing a good quality kilt to haul a motorbike about.

It's the shirt. Every so often I see kilted musicians wearing vests. You can't wear the long sleeve shirt and the sandals both. You have to go with the black t-shirt under the black leather vest, and the skinnier and shorter you are the better it looks.

I've seen this done and it works well. Not my bag of tea, but it works for others.
