    Phone Call from Jock Scot!

Jock Scot just gave me a phone call from Scotland; we talked about farming and cows. Turns out we have a bit in commen.

And yes, he does have an English accent.
Thanks, Jock, made my day and probably my week.

    Phone call

Also a farm lad that moved to the city after going to an agricultural college. We raised Hereford cattle and had a couple of Clydesdale horses until replaced by tractors. The horse breed was featured in a beer ad during the Super Bowl. Our Royal Winter Fair in Toronto has displays of Highland Cattle whose owners raise them for farm income. The cattle are very hardy and can take harsh winters as Jock would well know.

Yes, Jock and I talked about Hereford cattle and exactly where the first imported (to the U.S.A.) cattle came from over there on his side.

My parents were not farmers or ranchers, but where I grew up, there were Hereford cattle just up the street. That was in New Mexico, and both sides of my family are in farming and cattle in New Mexico and Texas.

How neat! I use Skype sometimes to talk to members afar. We don't have Hereford cattle, but the Brown Swiss Association is based in Beloit...we are, after all, the Dairy State

Oops, I forgot to tell Jock that I have broccoli and garlic growing. We had talked about His crops, grains and dairy, and my crops, citrus, cacti, and trees.

I grow okra in the summer and broccoli and garlic in the winter, Jock.

Not at all. I am not an expert in Scottish accents, nor in English accents, but his is quite English.

I suppose Jock will have to describe my accent. That would be interesting.
