The particular vest I am wearing is their "Frontier" vest. It is actually made from a cotton material, whereas my jacket is wool. I didn't really buy it to match my jacket, but after I received it, I discovered it really worked together. I did have to replace the original buttons.

What is clearly evident after looking at those pics is that SOOOOOOOOO many men just don't seem to understand that a waistcoat that does not cover the top of the kilt is WAY TOO SMALL!!!
What are they thinking by allowing themselves to be seen in public with a two or three inch gap between the top of the kilt and the bottom of the waistcoat? If they are renting their kit, cannot waistcoats in a longer size be provided? I am almost at the point where I thing "the gap" is worse than white hose. Almost at that point!

I'm just going on my gut impression (pun intended), but I have a feeling that most of the gentlemen there own their own jackets/doublets and waistcoats. Not many of them looked like "rentals" to me.

I would assume that many purchased these items when they were a bit smaller in the waist. With an increase in girth that often sets in with age, the kilt tends to creep down and the waistcoat tends to creep up.

I agree, though, this is a pet peeve of mine. Properly fitted clothing makes a huge difference!

Another thing I noticed is people wearing trews with Prince Charlie coatees that were not made for wear with Prince Charlies. They need to have the high fish-tail back to prevent the white of the shirt from showing above the trousers. It's the little things that make the difference!
