How often do you carry a walking stick when kilted

Whenever I will be strolling for any significant time (to the park, along the beach, at the zoo, etc) I always carry one of my walking sticks.

I wondered how many here did as well and how frequently they did?

I was torn between "Sometimes, at a Highland Games or other special event" and "Often, when out for a stroll" so I chose the former, as for me anyway I'm more apt to use one of my sticks for special events.

I had a hazelwood walking stick, cut and given to me by a local, while in Scotland that helped me get about the River Noe without getting too wet looking for smooth stones. I had to leave the fine thing behind, but I purchased a similar stick last fall at the Texas Renaissance Festival. My preference is to use it only as necessary for long hikes. I suspect I will take it to the Texas Scottish Festival in Arlington, TX, this June as that place is a long walk around.

I don't currently one a walking stick. However, looking at some of the examples of craftsmanship on this forum, I am considering getting one or even making one.

I always carry one--my blackthorn root knob shillelagh--but then I'm old and bent and my kilt weighs five pounds.

I presume that you mean a cromach, as opposed to a proper walking stick or cane. If you expand this to include something other than a cromach or hiking staff, then I'd have to say I use a walking stick (in this instance a walking stick umbrella) on a fairly regular basis, and far more often than I use my cromach.

I voted serious hiking only, because so far that is the only time I have carried a stick while kilted, however I may well take it to the games I attend this year.
