I'm not going to tell a dude who can throw a telephone pole sized caber not to wear white socks.

That's a great look - kilt, boots, scrunched down sock, flat cap...

    I do have to ask

For your project, do these kilts have pockets or are they to be worn with a sporran?

I think you need to make a choice one way or another and show them being worn that way.

If these ever go into production I will be one of the first to buy one.

    Cheers

They will NOT have pockets. Maybe someday they will, but I want to be REALLY clear about this....

I am NOT competing with Robert at R Kilts or Steve at Freedom Kilts. Their products are custom made for each individual, have lots of features, wonderful detailing, and are customizeable in every way. They are the "tanks" of contemporary kilts. Because of all that, they have a price to match and they are worth every penny. I've seen Walker K's R Kilt and it's a beauty. I've seen and inspected several Freedom Kilts and they are *Built* with a capital "B".

Look at an R Kilt and that leatherwork. That's flippin' gorgeous stuff, isn't it? Look at the pockets, you want yours with pockets, or without pockets? How about a LEATHER KILT? An EarthKilt will not have those options. Look at all the options you get with your Freedom Kilts order...three-four different styles, custom fitting, a wide range of accessories.....none of that will be available in an EarthKilt. You want custom, first quality stuff? You know where to get it! But if you want an inexpensive off-the-rack contemporary kilt that's uber-simple...well, maybe, MAYBE I'll have something for you, and you'll be able to feel good about how the "profit" from the kilt goes..

For all intents and purposes, the EarthKilt will be a production X-Kilt with a wide apron and button closure instead of velcro. Velcro is not exactly a "green product" you know? So all you guys who wanted an X-Kilt but were too intimidated to make one, hang on....your day is coming.

These will be basic kilts..pleats, aprons, waistbands, button closure and that's it. At first they will be available in one color, one length, five sizes. Period. The next run will be two colors, one length, five sizes.. Hopefully at some point down the line they'll be available in three colors, six sizes, two lengths. But that is so very much jumping the gun.

Lets' see if the sewing cooperative even wants the project, first. Then we see if they can produce a decent kilt. If they can, I'll ship them material for 20 - 22 kilts. Let's see if the material even GETS there, the Co-op is in the highlands of El Salvador, not in San Salvador. Let's see if I can sell 20-22 kilts and turn around enough money to not lose money on the project and buy the 250 yards of cloth I'll need for the first 100 kilts. Once that happens, we're really talkin' business and generating some $$$ for those environmental groups.

This is the first step in a long process.

Alan - looks great and I do like the wider apron. Keep us in the loop as this develops - should be an interesting project for you.

Best of luck Alan! I like the wider apron as well. I've never been fond of the narrow aprons ala UK (mainly because of the apron curl effect)
