It is true that the MILITARY wear their flashes to the front. But that is a uniform. I wear mine more to the side and perhaps a little behind.

Welcome from Eastern Washington State. There are no rules just guidelines. I wear mine at the side.

I wore mine at 9 and 3 initially, now 10 and 2. /shrug.

just guidelines, as others have said.

I think the biggies are to make sure they're primarily on the outside (ie: not centered on the front, back, or inside), and also to make sure the two parts of the flashes are together on the outside, rather than one strip inside and one strip outside.

From the Cape Fear River Valley, NC I generally wear mine at the "10 and 2 o'clock" position rather than the "9 and 3"
