My apologies. I was obviously in error. My impression was that Blackpool had a problem with its sex industry. In 2003/4 they were trying to adopt a voluntary code to stop the sale of 'lurid materials' on the main seafront areas. In 2007, they were trying to adopt a 'good behaviour' code to stop the unacceptable behaviour of attendees at stag and hen parties. In 2008, Barnado's childrens charity raised the alarm that over 200 registered sex offenders were now living in the town. One children's charity, CROP, established itself there a couple of years ago to help provide support for women trying to break away from their pimps. In October 2008, Channel 4's Despatches programme ran an undercover expose (sorry) of the prostitution being offered through lap-dancing clubs. In a BBC item in November 2008, a spokesperson for Blackpool council confirmed that they had closed down seven clubs in 2008 alone for failing to operate within the law. Hmm?

Cheers, Graham.
