Here is another Robert Burns Dinner picture. This one is the Address to the Haggis by Ian Day.

Ian is great! I love his accent. But why does everybody else look so uptight? Put away the swords, we're here to have FUN!

LOL yeah the haggis honor guard looks a little to serious. Ian does have a great accent. Also in attendance was the Clan chief of the McDonalds from Scotland.

Wow, how prestigious! I've always thought some of the "Honor Guard" stuff the St. Andrews Society does is a bit over the top and overly theatrical, but whatever floats their boat. It's their party!

They have loosened up a Great bit. The Society is much different than it was a few years ago. Took me years to join for that reason.

    Greg,

Many St. Andrew's/Caledonian/Burns Societies have Haggis Guards/Escorts as part of their Burns Night. It's all part of the fun, the tounge-in-cheek tribute in the spirit that Burns wrote the Address to a Haggis -- it is "the Great Chieftain o' the Puddin' Race", after all. The pomp and pagentry add a lot to the evening, INMHO.

But I'm an Episcopalian, so I live for pomp and pagentry.

Here are some more Burns Dinner pix. These were taken by another St. Andrews Society member. He brought print outs to the monthly meeting last night to give out. I scanned so that's why they are not the best quality.

Man, I'll really have to try to get to the event next year. It looked great!
