Most often because of my eminent departure.

Though I imagine that anticipation of Grant's arrival might cause a similar response.

On a more serious note (but with Mod hat off)

    Gentlemen,

    Everyone has suggestions.

If this has worked for cavscout more power to him. It should be noted that we don't know what his suit jacket is like. Reading his suggestion I took a look at mine and saw that this wouldn't work at all with those I own.

Personally I would rather not wear a pocket square then pull out the lining of my pocket, but that is just me.

Perhaps I have read J.R.R. Tolkein's The Hobbit one too many times, so the fear of leaving the house without a "pocket handkerchief" is too deeply ingrained to imagine doing so.

It would be interesting to see a photo of the look and then would judge if it works visually or not.

I have learned a lot of fun (and money saving little tricks) from others on XMTS so let's all try to keep an open mind.

Words like "fashionista", "fool", and "peasant" aren't exactly helpful for a fun discussion.

That said, in defense of the pocket square...

The pocket square is another nice little athestic touch for a gentleman's attire and a handkerchief is a useful bit of kit for a gentleman to have on hand*.

    Cheers

    Jamie

    Good point Jamie,

Seeing as my husband is ALWAYS asking to use my shirt to wipe his glasses, maybe I'll get him to wear a pocket square with his Crail jacket. And it sure looks spiffy!

Really? Are your departures so extraordinary, that they make faint-hearted ladies swoon and cry?

Back on topic - I don't carry one myself (single clean handkerchief for me), but I think that, if properly presented, a pocket square would look quite good with an argyle.
