How to dress for Golf?

Sorry, can't help out at all here. Not old enough to play golf.

I have a set of clubs upstairs, don't use them.

My mom once said I shouldn't wear a kilt because I am not a member of a group or Scottish. (I am though, descended from her line which has Gordons, and more, in it.)

Though, makes me think of a 'snappy answer' being, "yeah I wear kilts because I like to golf. I don't play bagpipes because I just play mini-golf."

I wear a sporran when I golf kilted. I just spin it to my right hip when I swing. I feel like it's less in the way on my trailing hip. (Of course, I'm a lousy golfer so your results may vary.)

Personaly, when I play I use one of Calvscouts sporran adapters & fasten the sporran directly to my belt on the right side & I push the socks down with no flashes.

What part of Florida are you coming to?

I'll be in the Melbourne area for a few days, which is where my Father-In-Law and I should be playing golf. I should probably say playing at golf, as I don't get out very often, maybe once every couple of years or so. Mostly, I'll just be out there to have fun

I only play golf with empty pocket (except for tees and extra golf balls), so I can't imagine having the sporran on me during play. I, too, would hang it on the bag in the same manner in which I hang a catch-all bag there for pocket stuff.

But, I just never wear a kilt without hose, so it's up to you. Of course, the temps in Florida are reall special, especially if you play in the summer, so you'll have to decide what to do about your socks.

Well, if anyone in the Melbourne area sees a funny looking guy in a Clarke Tartan USAK Casual, doing very badly at golf, but much better at the drinking that comes afterwards, that'll probably be me

I've played gold in a kilt once. I wore the ankle socks with my golf shoes and no sporran. I think of it my going kilted near the beach or pool. Kilt and flip-flops....no hose....but that could be me. Typically, I save the kilt for the 19th hole, rather than the course.

Having golfed most of my life, my take is what ever floats your boat. I fondly remember the looks as I approached the first tee in my knickers, hose, and (gasp) flat cap (this was way before the late Payne Stewart made knickers popular).

I actually think it gave me a wee bit of advantage in the distraction area; guys would settle over their putt, take a look at me holding the flag, then back away shaking their head.

As to a Sporran, hum I think I would prefer not. I never liked having anything in my pockets, except a spare ball, tee and a greens tool, so not having what in effect would be a fanny pack, would not be a great loss.

Socks vs. hose, would just depend on the weather. Here in the Mountain SW I try and wear as little as possible and rely on sunscreen. I would probably do the same with kilted golf. Colder but nicer weather would call for hose ala knickered golf.

I have a wonderful Masters green golf shirt that would go very well with my Gordon, as well as several other golf shirts the will go with my new Ancient Lindsay. Two tone golf shoes, Oatmeal hose, and a nice argyle biased sweater, Fore! Now anyone want to make this interesting with say a $10 Nassau?ith:
