Having difficulty Deciding...Let's Vote!
Since returning to school my spending on kilts and related items have been curtailed quite a bit but now the itch is back and I have been saving away for another kilt. I've narrowed it down to two choices.
First Choice is the Dark Douglas:
Second Choice is Murray of Atholl Weathered:
I am equally torn between the two tartans. So Let's see some votes and if you want to post a reason in favor of one or the other please do so. Originality counts

I have a bunch of shirts in my closets from by business casual days that I hardly ever wear any more. I'm having a kilt made in Black Shadow (or Dark Island - I forget which) to give me something besides Dockers to pair them with. Dark Douglas would do the same. If you want to stretch your wardrobe, the more frugal choice is the Douglas.
Besides, I would have trouble saying "Atholl" with a straight face.
Regards,
Rex.

Reason: Murray of Atholl Weathered is indeed beautiful, but not your next best choice.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Murray of Atholl because it appears to have the same weathered colors (save the white)as Macdonald of the Isles weathered and those colors look beautiful in a kilt.
Not the same tartan, but much the same colors. You'll love wearing it.

I agree with Rex on this one. The Dark Douglas is the more flexible of the two.

Rob,
Quick question.
Do you already own a weathered or muted colored kilt?
Cheers

I personall love the Murray of Atholl tartan. I think it's very versitile, as you can pair browns, tans, greys, and even a dark red with it. If you like earth-tones, it's the winner.

Douglas Weathered. My other tartan kilts are, Douglas Modern, Douglas Ancient, and Douglas Grey Ancient.
If I didn't have to purchase a pants wardrobe for teaching I would be getting both. I am purchasing a tweed braemer and vest to pull double duty. Just have to decide which one to get first. Both have an equal meaning for me.

Thank you Rob.
If you already have a weathered tartan kilt (the muted colors are so wonderful for day wear) then the Dark Douglas is dramtic and would work very well for formal / evening wear
