The rule for hand-knitted hose it that you wear them any time, any where that it suits your fancy. Especially if your wife made them for you!

Personally, I do not wear flashes with dress hoses.. only piper hoses. I only wear matching tartan flashes or solid colors like black.
Hoses, I coordinate with my top.. usually either black or white (sometimes green).
For formal wear.. black flashes and the black of the Ghillie lacing looks really sharp on white piper hoses. (or black hoses with no flashes)

So I went on a walk with my wee boy yesterday (sorry no piccies) and wore my swk standard nightstalker with hiking boots and cream hose. Now regardless of color, because I know you guys have opinions on that having caught up with the rest of the thread here, what about position of the hose with boots?? Should the be up towards the knee as worn traditionally, or scrunched down? I wore them up, and rather liked it this being my first pair, but upon finishing the walk wondered of my correctness in doing so. Any opinions and advice is much appreciated!

When I'm wearing boots, I scrunch down my hose. When I'm wearing ghillie (or for others, buckle) brogues, I wear my hose all the way up. But the hose that I am actually wearing with my boots is different than with my brogues. I wouldn't wear nice, hand-knit kilt hose with boots, and I don't wear cheap, thin hose with my brogues..
But that's just me, I like my dress hose thick and hand-knit.

I don't like my hose/socks doing anything but properly fitting on my legs. I wear combat boots at times and always have my hose high and tight. I know some wear theirs "scrunched" down on their boots and it looks fine.

I second that notion!
Not a fan of the scrunch down.
