No problem-----I hope! McMurdo put up an instructive video on how to tie a bow tie on "Kilt accessories" with a title something like "tying a tie".It is probably one or two pages back. If we are really lucky he may guide you to it. Help please McMurdo?

I'll try to get a link to that in here, Jock.
And here we go; it is the second post of the thread and posted by McMurdo:

I like bow ties too, and need to replace mine. Might look for one to go with my daywear outfit.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Thanks Jock, and Ted and you too McMurdo,
I will check that out as that seems to be an excellent skill to learn. I did infact succeed in tying the bow in the back of my balmoral, now i just need to put in a few stitches. I want to make sure i like the bow and that i am not going to retie it .

Ya, I think that's a pretty good video. Someone had to actually show me, hands on, whay back when. Same with four-in-hand ties.
My father has no idea how to tie a tie and always wears clip ons.

Which is another tie-type that many many blokes can't do properly. The Windsor knot is the only way to tie a long tie (four-in-hand ) in my opinion. Badly tied ties and leaving the top button of the shirt visable above the scrappy knot does my (usually tolerant) head in!!

I'd have to agree, the Full Windsor knot is the only way I've tied my ties for a while now. A few weeks ago I was tying some ties for my twin brother, with his Cerebral Palsy he does not have the dexterity to tie his own, he asked me to tie them in a Half Windsor as that is what he prefers, I had to fight myself to finish them off properly. Unless of course I'm tying a bow tie, in which case the above video has proven most helpful indeed.
