Adventure # 2
Thanks for your great response, everyone.
Well, yet another convent adventure! Last night I asked Sister Sharon how to use the iron in the basement of the convent (to iron my school clothes). She showed me how...seems you actually have to plug it in!
BUT, to plug it in, you have to unplug a little gadget that emits sounds to keep bats away...you can see where this story is going, no doubt! Sister got me hooked up with the iron and went upstairs. About two minutes into my ironing, who should happen to swoop down, nearly upon my head? None other than a BAT!! With the second swoop, I ran up those stairs as fast as lightening (which is highly unusual for me!). I shouted, "There's a bat in the basement! There's a bat in the basement!" Sister retrieved a butterfly net and went about the business of capturing the bat, but we couldn't find it! We took the ironing board upstairs and closed the basement door. Don't bats sleep during the winter? This one wanted to welcome me to my new place, I guess!
Sister left me with a butterfly net in case I encountered our bat-friend again, but I assured her that if I saw him I'd be safely cowering under the desk! She is not afraid of bats, but doesn't like snakes; I promised to take care of capturing a snake if it gets into the convent (please join me in praying that no snakes ever decide to do that!!).
I think I may have to write a book about all of these new adventures!! "Adventures in Nun-Land"...pretty catchy, eh?!
Teaching teenage boys I can handle...but bats, as I mentioned, you can find me under the desk!!

Oh, Reverend Sister, whatever did your community do with the belfry??!! I mean, you have a chapel, right? Why no decent living space for the bats?

It sounds like an eventful time, I was lost in Detroit once on my motorcycle, and the potholes are bad enough on the paved roads let alone the dirt roads. As for bat, while I can not empathize I can sympathize. I look forward to your continuing adventures in Nun Land, and if the book gets published please let us know.

Well March is coming up and we could all ask St. Patrick to keep your snakes at bay and help with the Bats. Just remember they are flying mice. Hope you pluged the sonic device back in.
The adventure continues and the adrialirin is pumping.
Keep well,

Sister, I'm so happy things are coming together for you. It sounds like you had some much needed fun in your life - good for you! BTW, perchance are you planning on attending the Flint Pipe Band ceilidh this Saturday? If so, I'll be seeing you there.
And also, VMAC3205, we also have a shawl program, and it's amazing how much it's needed, good luck with yours.

Maybe St. Gertrude could help with the bat-catching. She's tha patroness of rat-catchers, and bats are kind of like rats.
What about a power strip? Would that solve the problem?

You forgot about having to walk through knee-deep snow to get to the chapel, uphill, both ways.

I believe their name in German is Fleige Mause, though I know I spelled it wrong, it literally is 'flying mouse'

St Francis might object though (He might ask for a heavenly death-match up )
Sister Heidi-- I'm glad that things are looking up
