I have a couple of friends that do research (for museums) on dress civilian & military jackets during the "Georgian & early Victorian periods. According to my "LIMITED" knowledge this jacket style as well as the PC etc. are "adaptations of these. (???) & perhaps they could insights on their "antecedents" & them being worn (open?closed)
