If that's correct, the next time they ask, "Are you from Scotland?", look the doorman/bouncer dead in the eye and say, "Yes. Yes I am."

That is exactly why I suggested finding a local kiltmaker to make the guy his next kilt. "Why yes, I am in fact from this kilt's country of origin."

Got an email back from the operations manager. He apologised for the lapse in judgment by their staff and agree that the kilt is appropriate for any of their clubs. Gave a polite email in return. Matter closed.
