Unintended Participation?
So did anyone else go out kilted last night without realizing it was Mardi Gras? I went with my lady to my usual watering hole and didn't think anything of the fact it was Mardi Gras. I had several questions about the kilt, but surprisingly few about whether or not I was indeed 'dressed up' for Mardi Gras. I'll take that as a good sign that the kilt isn't seen as 'costume wear' by the general public. Anyway... did anyone else get caught up in any Mardi Gras celebrations, intentionally or unintentionally?

I thought that was on Tuesday. Oh well. My son and I were kilted, but no bars, just Burger King.

hmmm... perhaps you're right. there were a few parades and such this weekend here... maybe folks were getting their ya-ya's out over the weekend since it falls during the work week.

Yes, Fat Tuesday is tomorrow. Eat, drink, and be merry, for on Ash Wednesday begins the Lenten deprivation.

It is...Mardi Gras, or "Fat Tuesday", is the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season.

That's why it's called Fat "Tuesday" and not Fat "weekend before lent".

Meg O' Malley's celebrated it's 9th anniversary on Saturday, so I was kilted playing bagpipes, whilst the rest of down town was doing their carnival. It took me a while to realize it was Mardi Gras since there wasn't any Cajun music. It seems like hip hop music is the new standard outside the gulf coast.

Mrs.Z and I go to a big (and always interesting) themed Mardi Gras ball every year, I posted some forum appropriate photos in the 'show us your pics' section. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/k...956/index.html

Yup, I was going to say "Can't be Mardi Gras, since it's only Lundi..."
