Kilt belt buckle problem
Ok, this may not be a problem and may be perfectly normal, but I just have to ask... I have a new kilt belt with the velcro back and a large buckle. I have adjusted it to fit my waist, but I am slightly annoyed at the buckle not sitting flat. It is leaning to the left from the side where the leather is doubled over to size to the side with the latch for the buckle. I have not really figured out how noticeable it is to other people, but when I look down I see it quite plainly. So what are your thoughts, normal? Needs a car driven over the leather? Need my head examined? LOL.

I've got one that does the same thing! And while I'm not sure what other folks think...I too notice it and it bugs the heck outta me.
I haven't driven a car over it yet, but the several reasonably well aimed boot stomps (much to the downstairs neighbors' chagrin) did help a bit but hasn't solved the problem yet. My guess is that the velcro on the back is preventing the leather part of the belt from lying flat. I think my next attempt at fixing the issue will be to unstitch the velcro backing at the point of the fold and remove a section of it.
Now as to needing your head examined.....I'm afraid I can't help you there.

The belts tend to come with two leather loops. One is meant to hold down the leather on one side and the other is to be put on the other side for balance.
Since I didn't like the way the belt bulged on one side I choose to use both to hold it flat. Two loops seemed to do the trick and flatten the belt on that side.
Cheers

You could try what we did in the military with waist plate style buckles.
Run the belt through the loop in the buckle, slip a square wire ring like this over the belt.

Then feed the end back through the loop on the buckle.
This will pinch the belt flatter and the wire ring will keep the belt from slipping off the buckle. The trick will be finding a wire ring the width of your belt but that won't show out from behind the buckle.

If I understand you correctly, this was how I had previously solved it:

A small piece of 1/4 inch thick gasket superglued to the buckle.
After reading Cavscout's solution and improvising with a bit of dry cleaner pants hanger:

Custom fit, and belt snug to the waistplate.

Wow, that's pretty cool, I might have to rig something up like that.
