    Inside out Kilt Belts ?

I got my kilt belt and buckle. The adjustment for the waist has a smaller buckle that I am guessing is warn to the inside to hide it? But I would think that this will be uncomfortable as well as add unintended wear to the kilt in that position.

Can you invert the belt to have the adjusting buckle and inner belt show to the outside? or is this taboo?

I don't know about taboo per se, but it wouldn't look very good. The leather on the inside of the belt (which you want to put on the outside) is usually (at least for my belts) unfinished, and would not look nearly as good as the finished side.

Oh, and you'll have to field all of those "hey, your belt is inside-out" looks and questions.

Couldn't you remove the buckle and put Velcro on the belt and strap in place of the buckle? Just make sure the soft fussy part of the Velcro faces the kilt.

That is exactly why that style of belt is not overly popular. Most of the mass marketed belts that are adjustable use Velcro for sizing. If you can afford it, contact Steve at Oconee Leather and have a belt made to order. GOOOOOD quality and reasonable.

I don't notice it either.... I have both the buckle and the Velcro style and actually prefer the buck as it doesn't seem quite as stiff. I have not noticed any excessive wear either as my belt doesn't do a lot of moving once I buckle it on

Hi-- wearing the adjustable strap on the outside is not only taboo, it will constantly get in the way of your elbow. I've worn belts like this for more than forty years without ever damaging my kilt.
