black stones for a Black Stuart.
That's a beautiful and subtle brooch/pin. I'm a big fan of the trinities.

I almost never wear a kilt anymore, so it probably is not a big deal.
My grandfather used to wear his(now mine) kilt pin about half way up his kilt, just like those in the old pictures. I always assumed that it was a military thing to do with the Gordon Highlanders, he served with them for many years. Maybe it was just the fashion of the time, I know not. My father used to wear his as we do these days and I well remember grandfather ,who was a General and not used to being disobeyed, decrying the way his youngest son, my father, was wearing the kilt pin. He never really forgave my father for serving in the Royal Navy, so I think there was a bit more to it than a positioning of a kilt pin! I am not sure, but I seem to remember that the pin worn in the high position was pinned to the layer under the apron,I could be wrong there, after all it is some 60 something years ago that I actually saw it worn that way.

I go with the bottom of the kilt position and I am not a fan of brooches being used as a substitute, but each to their own.

Thanks, Jock. I will leave my blanket pin down in the corner with the clasp end pointing downward then, and not worry about it.

I... don't have any problem with anyone serving in the Royal Navy either.

Unfortunatly, I had not switched to the blanket pin before I had the last pictures taken, and those were the good pictures. At some point I will have to try to arange for pictures with the outfit with the blanket pin. I also need to replace the tartan flashes with solid color garter ties, but the tartan are all I have right now.

So, I don't have a picture to show and check that the blanket pin is where it should be.

Well, I have successfully bid for, and won, a Miracle brooch from Ebay! Yes, one of the pieces I bid for has come my way, BUT ......... although it was advertised as being a 'Miracle' brooch, the name 'Miracle' does not appear on it at all. I believed that the name does appear on the reverse of all 'Miracle' items so, without it, could I have a dud on my hands?

Robert, or one of the other experts: could you put my mind at rest over this please? Here it is:

    Take care,
    Ham.

OK, you guys have led me astray again. I just got this one from ebay:

I like the blue stones (and the Wlesh dragons), and I think it'll go well with my kilts.

BTW: How do you like this one?

P.S. Hamish, I use Ebay all the time but I hardly ever bid on anything, I just do Buy It Now. That way you KNOW you've won.
