    Want to have some fun

Without a doubt though, a flat hat and/or white hose would not be worn as well, as that really would be poor form! Sorry, sorry, OK I fell foul of temptation, I really could not resist having a go!

    Getting back to bow ties....

It would be interesting to see if they are English in origin and if so, what would be the traditional Scottish neck wear?

    Cheers

Oh! Jamie, say it isn't so!

Bow ties are not English in origin; they are the remains of the stock worn by 18th century gentlemen throughout the civilized world, and into quite a few places that weren't civilized until we civilized chaps arrived!

Kilted, I tend to wear my club tie either as a four-in-hand or a bow. I never worry about my tie matching my kilt-- gad!-- if gentlemen worried about that, members of the Royal Company of Archers would never wear their tie. In either case I wear a waistcoat, as I think nothing looks worse than a tie floating on the sea one's shirt front.

Phil has everyone else beat, hands down. I dont' think it has anything to do with the bow ties; it's just him.

Want to know how a man should look? Check out pdcorlis. He just looks good in any outfit.

As to bow ties, when I was a little boy, I had to wear bow ties while all the grown men wore four-in-hands. I hated the bows with a passion, and I still have trouble wearing anything but a black model for black tie events. They always remind me of a pretentious academic . . . exept on your guys, of course.

They look good on all of you!

That's the word! Bow ties and waistcoats are "dapper."

    I'll stop talking now...
