I agree,...that is a nice tartan. His mother was a MacLean. That tartan is a MacLean of Duart Hunting (VS.) The STA # is 824 and is dated 1842 and was originally from the Vestiarium Scoticum.
Too bad he chose to wear the hunting tartan to his Investiture, when the more appropriate choice would have been the red "Dress" tartan.
