At least he did not wear a neck tie with his Prince Charlie, as he is usually pictured doing.

    I'm not sure Matt.
A neck tie may have been an improvement, of course a bow tie would have been best.

    About investitures

When being invested one has two options if one chooses to wear Highland attire.

OPTION 1: Court dress, as per the rules set down by the Office of the Lord Chamberlain.

OPTION 2: Morning dress. In this instance it would comprise a black Argyll jacket with matching waistcoat, white shirt with fold-over collar, silver grey silk four-in-hand tie, dress (or best) kilt, silver mounted sporran, diced, tartan, or dark solid coloured hose, black silver-mounted sgian dubh, black shoes.

Morning dress is to be preferred, and all aspiring X Markers would be advised to have all of the above packed and ready to go at a moments notice in the event of an unexpected command to attend on Her Majesty for the purpose of an investiture.

The Prince Charlie coatee can be worn with a jabot, although I personally would not, and think it looks a bit out of place.

As has been already said, Sir Sean can wear anything he wants. Be still my beating heart.

    Smile

Let's give Sir Sean his due. The analytical equation is this: My wife thinks Sir Sean is very sexy in a kilt, I wear a kilt. Therefore, I'm (guess?). I'll be back to the computer in about a half-hour.

Me thinks Mr. Connery does just fine without me wondering if what he does is up to my standards. I wish I could pull it off that well.
