Good question! Most Scots will only know one or two tartans,so they will assume your Isle of Skye tartan is some sort of clan tartan. I did! Most Scots have little idea of fashion, or, district tartans. So again, I would say that to avoid the "poser" label, stick to one tartan. Let's not get too wound up about all this ,it's not a hanging offence and no one is going to be chased out of town if you wear more than one tartan. If you are resident here and you wear more than one tartan,without good reason, then yes, thoughts will be had and even the odd eyebrow might be raised,but nothing will be said and the earth will carry on spinning, as it always has done.
