I'd like to mention that these hose will not be going with a regimental outfit. The individual will be wearing a prince charlie coat with the 78th kilt.-Josh

With the Prince Charlie I would have to say Diced or full Argyll hose would be better, I tend to keep my Argyll Tops for dressy wear not formal wear. Nonetheless though even with full Argyll or Diced hose the prominent colour should be Orange.

Actually, there is historical precedent for it. In John Scurr and Mike Chappel's history of the Malayan Emergency, there is an artist's depiction of an officer of the Cameronian Regiment wearing solid hose with Douglas tartan tops. I've also seen a depiction of a piper of the 10th Princess Mary's Gurkha Rifles wearing tartan hose in Stewart Hunting with diced tops.

    Regards,

    Todd

    Hello,
Between those two choices, I would go with the orange for the main body of the hose.

Hey guys-I wanted to mention again that these are one single hose-The argyll cuffs are connected to the hose , so its all one piece. the individual did not want full argyll, not full plain.

    Orange.. And here's why:

I like it better than the green.. That's as technical as I get.

I like the orange, myself. I must say that these remind me of tartan topped shooting socks and I picture these being worn with a tweed jacket and muskrat sporran rather than with a dinner jacket and black tie... I should think full tartan or diced hose would be the better choice for formal wear. Just my pennyworth!
