    While you're in Inverness, I can highly recommend the Trafford Bank guesthouse - a brisk walk from the downtown pubs (Hootenany's is far better than its moniker) and the wonderful Mustard Seed restaurant, a good breakfast, helpful staff, etc.

    And, if you can, hie thee to Dumfries and the world-renowned Ferintosh guesthouse ; )
