Hmmm "worn properly" is like one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions!

Most replies appear to be about the accessories rather than the kilt itself and that will always provide bones of contention.

Common sense dictates that it should be with the pleats at the rear and not lower than mid knee. The rest depends upon occasion and sense of taste or preference. What one would wear with a kilt around the house and at a fully formal occasion are vastly different.

It is said that former Chief Justice Warren Berger stated that he could not define obscenity but that he knew it when he saw it. It can be the same with kilts and what determines what is proper. Individual peeves are not necessarily the best guide either as I have seen many posts that run along the lines of "not what I would wear, but you manage to carry it off" lines.
