I didn't mention it in my review of the USAK Auld Lang Syne kilt, but I did not receive any scraps with my finished kilt, and that was a slight drawback for exactly this reason - I think it's good to have extra for color matching like this. I can't tell you how many times the swatch I carried with me saved me from buying the wrong shirt, for instance.
There is necessarily waste in the construction of any kilt. I think it should be mandatory that all kilts are delivered with at least a few of the leftover bits and pieces.
