Nanook interesting point. Do you have any websites where the original issue could be obtained? I have only know of happy customers of the WPG's wares from the east. I am one too! But to have an original army issue would be a fine posession.

Yes, I agree and I'd like to see those too. I've been hanckering after one for a long time, but they are always in sizes suited to young 20yr old males with a degree of fitness I've never boasted. One large one came up on eBay recently, but it sold for almost as much as a WPG sells for.

What Nanook said is probably absolutely correct.

But us fat guys are out of luck. And finding that really nice, 18 oz. wool is a little tricky, too.

I've seen the WPG Gordon mentioned several times in various posts and could never figure out what it was.

Thank you McMurdo for finally letting the cat out of the bag. Once I did a Google search and found the source it was obvious why you rabble wanted to keep it a secret! What a deal!

Now the question becomes do I want to pull the trigger on a Gordon, or save up a few more bucks and get my Anderson from J. Higgins, or save up a few more bucks and get one completely custom from Kathy Lare or Barb Tewksbury.

Well, it finally came down to the length. 24 inches is just too long for me and that appears to be as short as the WPG can be had, so I'll get the Anderson first and think about a Gordon later. I do like the look of the Gordon tartan, though.

My Gordon is 22 inches, I think there is an option for that with the Gordon Highlander anyway. As the owner of two kilts by Barb Tewksbury I'd say if I had my druthers then I'd go to Barb, however in the dead of winter the What Price Glory is a wonderful kilt to have.

Remember that the WPGs are cut in the regimental style with a 2 -3" rise above the true waist.
They, WPG, measure the overall length of the kilt not the drop. I learned this the hard way when I ordered a 24" and I put it on at the high rise waist and the hem was only at mid -thigh . They gladly replaced it with a 27" length which fits perfectly to the top of my kneecaps

Well, I like that Cameron kilt, and I LOVE my WPG Gordon kilt. I think for Nanook to call them a "less-than-stellar Asian knock off" is unfair. I am extremely pleased, and the workmanship is outstanding. Granted, I did remove the 3rd strap from my Gordon, but that was only because it was not tailored and therefore did not quite fit around my butt.
