Great pair of finds. Looks really dapper.

That's a very nice watch ! Made (many years ago ) in my home state. I love the look of pocket watches and I think it completes kilted attire quite nicely. New ones are great but nothing compares to a nice antique one. Some one mentioned it already but I too would be interested in what the back looks like. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! That's what I wanted to see. The works. I don't know why, but I love seeing the mechanics of it all. Thanks for sharing the pics. Again, great watch.

It could use a cleaning I suppose, one of these days soon I'll have someone look at it.

    1915 Waltham

That is so nice! It really looks good and the key and chain really put it all together.

Well I found a Waltham from 1915 that was running and won it. My only problem was that I did not have a watch chain for it, again I started looking for a vintage chain, I found one after some searching that was not quite the same vintage the chain is from the 1960 or 1970's. The Chain came in yesterday morning, and I finally got the entire thing together, I'm really happy with it, now it feels like the waistcoat is complete, so onto the photos:

If you are ever down my way, Brockville has a great clock/watch shop that specializes in cleaning estate jewellery. They do everything from Grandfather clocks to pocket watches. They are very good! (Plus if you visit, the Ginger Ale is on me!!)

    Watch chains & Fobs

Sorry, but I have to agree with Jock;the proper way is to insert the bar from the outside, but as someone else said, blaze a new trail yersel son.

Laird O'the Cowcaddens Firstly let me welcome you to XMarkstheScot, I'd like to thank you for your astute observation, however as I already said in response to Jock, I would try it the other way. Also I'd like you to note Nick's post where he stated that looking at vintage shots there was no rule for how the watch chain was worn. Therefore I would have to say your point is moot.

I consider that a vest, especially when worn with a kilt, is not complete without a pocket watch and chain. Some may consider it old-fashioned, but that's just another word for tradition, isn't it?
