If you look closely, the active discount page shows a a bar near the top of the page, just below their phone number, that says 'X marks the scot discount active' and shows the marked up price, formerly 249 then marked down to the same price as the non discount page- 223 pounds

The page without the discount active just shows a price, 223, the same as the 'discounted' price
I had seen that bar last night; it looked like both screenshots had it. Perhaps there was some mix up on my end. Now I don't see the bar in the second photo.

Anyway, when I went through. The "glena" 16 oz was 223.15 pounds sterling and when I added the discount it said the same until I added it to my basket and it gave me 199.56 pounds sterling.

I really don't think they're trying to mess you about. The discount feature's always been on the level for me when I've perused that site (and I've done it a lot).

I just did the same exercise-----5yd MacIntyre Old Hunting Modern 16oz glena and got 244 with the xmts discount and 273 without. Seems to be working fine for me. Accessed through above Scotweb ad to get xmts discount, chose the fabric first, then products from that fabric, then kilts, then 5yd casual== displays price of 244, then cleared discounts===displays price of 273.

I too have been following closely the price and availability of several items as the pound sterling has nosedived against the dollar in the last few months, but appears to have stabilized the last month or so at around 1.4:1 $:GBP. Some great deals to be had if you are able to fiscally handle the shopping now.

It also depends on what tartan you choose. The lowest price is displayed at the "from $x amount) and then the price of the tartan you choose is taken into account.

For example tartan material is currently listed as being "from $11.57 per meter". A common tartan like say, Blackwatch, isn't going to cost as much as a tartan like Ise of Skye, or MacPherson, or MacIntyre. So when you choose one of those tartans the higher price will be used. You still get a 10% discount.

It sounds like that's why you think there's a problem.

I finally went all the way to the basket, and that's when I finally saw the discount. For some reason, it didn't actually discount the price, until you add it to the basket

Sorry for the confusion-thanks for everyone's help

Hi guys, from reading this thread, I cannot myself work out exactly what the problem appears to have been. But it's *possible* it's related to some web site layout and process changes we've been making in the last week or two. These have included changes both to the way in which discounts are handled technically in the background (to iron out a few potential bugs) and in the way prices are displayed as you go through the shopping process. And there are a few more changes due this week (including bringing our Outfit Builder into line with the main product purchase layouts).

These changes are of course designed to improve reliability and transparency. But it's perfectly possible that you might have come across some temporary (i.e. whilst working on things) or unnoticed bug. It may look fairly simple on the surface, but making such a complex system look simple isn't easy! :-)

If anyone identifies a repeatable problem we can fix we'll get straight onto it! Sorry for any confusion meanwhile.
