Cochranes are a Renfrew-shire clan, with antecedents going back to at least 1262 when Waldeve de Cochrane was witness to a charter in favour of the 5th Earl of Menteith. They have two rather nice tartans, and I believe their chief is Lord Dundonald, which may have caused your confusion.
