"The ten (20, 30, etc...) most commonly asked questions about kilts" is indeed an excellent idea. It works wonderfully in alot of forums and websites.

To my opinion this is a really great forum with very nice, and - so it seems to me - ‘real’ people contributing. My favorite sub-forums are “General kilt talk”, “Show us your pics”, “Kilt board newbie” and “Show us your pics”.

With the following I couldn’t agree more:
“…remain an international and family friendly site. Our rules concerning Politics, Religion, and weapons are not going to be changed. Likewise adult material, links to adult sites (i.e. not family friendly per the Mod Squad) will not be permitted regardless of subject matter”.

So just continue on this road.

Maybe a "Frequently Asked Questions" sticky to house those questions that are asked 811,282 times. I have done searches only to find information after my search that was previously missed. For those lurking and seeking answers that are already here, they could go to the FAQ thread and find some of the more asked questions.

Added: Okay. Maybe reading only 80% of a long thread results in like-minded suggestions. I see now that this one exists.

    BroosterB1,

I don't see that one happening. Let me explain a bit why. Several years ago there was a web forum called Tom's Cafe. It was full of kilties, other skirts, and than those that really felt that wearing any kind of skirt or dress by a man made it a male garment. The one example that sticks out is the guy that really liked to wear women's figure skating dresses. Needless to say a huge divide became very evident.

Considering the split some feel already exists at Xmarks regarding traditionalists and non traditionalists (respect is a 2 way street folks), would adding members that don't own kilts and prefer sarongs, etc be productive? I was around for the conflict when Tom's really blew up and a lot of people split and never came back. I prefer the lack of hostility that we have here to that craziness.

Hear hear!! I was there for the blow-up as well (I was one who left and never came back) and would hate to see things like that happen to Xmarks.

Amen Colin. For other examples, do a search for "underkilt" and read some of those exhanges XMTS does what it does very well. I can't see any need to really deviate from that in any way. No one minds answering questions for new guys and I'm sure most folks really don't mind whether there is a trend one way or the other on tradition. A hard-line post from either side is going to set people off no matter what the topic or inclination.

Boy, this thing really took off. Over 100 responses in 3 days!

Personally, I don't see any need to restructure. If XMTS is restructured in any significant way, it won't be XMTS. Travelling some of the same ground, re-explaining to newbies, discussing the finer points of kilted dress, etc. are all fine I think. Sure things subtlely change and shift a bit over time, but if I were looking for something different from XMTS, then I would go elsewhere.

I am here. I like it. I know the folks who hang out here. We're family. We argue (politely mostly), we discuss, we pray for each other, commiserate with each other, and we oggle each other's attire and new stuff.

    OK. I like that. So . . . what's the point?

In fact, maybe an option to make various forums disappear for the individual user might be a good idea. That's pretty picky, though.

Overall, X Marks is pretty amazing.

There is a FAQ, but an expanded one would be nice, for some question new people have, and are afraid to ask. Like.... "How do I crap in this thing?" or "Meine Gotten, that chair is cold' and so on, the things that go beyond the cosmetic of sitting on a chair.

Your question about 'how to use the bathroom while kilted' has been addressed and is already in the tutorial section about 2/3 the way down the page:

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/u...x.html?t=28856

I think the fact that so many people (not just sathor) have questions about things that ARE already in the tutorials section speaks to the fact that perhaps they aren't 'visible enough' or easy enough to find... or maybe people just aren't looking.

BTW... when it comes to chairs I have some words of wisdon to impart: Hot leather car seats and cold metal bleachers are NOT your friend.
