Roll Call: The Amazing Madalyne has made hotel reservations for us. Telephoned the manager of a new establishment in Palm Desert who says the doors are opening next Monday - CT and I will forward our report.

I think the Tilted Kilt looks interesting as does the Red.

CT - oooh, that's a rather unpretty part of town in my opin.

Rabble, for what it's worth, the Scottish Society of the Desert is having their Tartan Day dinner in Palm Springs that night, at Billie Reed's Restaurant. It's on the West side of town, they have a bar, great menu with very reasonable prices.
If you'd like to join them, price is $35 with menu of Pot Roast; Chicken Picatta; Alaskan Grilled Salmon (I can't handle fish either).
If anyone is interested, P/M me.
Wow! If there already is a gathering, we should all go to the same place.

Not sure if I can go, but now I would have to choose!!!!!

My opinion, our XMTS group should have its own gathering. As mentioned in another post, we could get "lost" in another group, and it would dilute what I see as the purpose of our gathering -- to meet/visit with Hamish and others from this forum.

And please, no Tilted Kilt or Hooter's or the like. Let's make this a comfortable venue for all attending.

I think we should go with Lyon's as no other alternative has gathered much interest.

Panache, The F-HCAG, Way2fractious and I are making out reservations as I type this. That is if Panache ever gets home.

So, yes, as of right now I will be there.

I'll fly into Palm Springs on Fri the 3rd and depart on Sun the 5th.

Let's make this a real event.

If there are no objections can we set Lyons English Grill as our destination?

    http://lyonsenglishgrille.com/index.html

It is rather hard for the Nor Cal Rabble to do any research about a place to gather for drinks and dinner.

    Is this OK?

Could someone down South give them a call or stop by to get a sense if a fairly large group is going to be able to be accomodated on Saturday the 4th?

    What time should me meet?

And is there any place we might gather together before hand?

    Cheers

    Jamie

If I can make a suggestion.....

As we will all be arriving in Palm Springs at different times, and probably staying at different locations throughout the valley, I think it would be prudent if we all share cell phone no's. via PM so that we can connect with each other.

I would hate to think that a single dinner on Sat. night will be the only time we will have to visit with each other.

    Please PM me for mine.

Again, I will be arriving in Palm Springs on Fri the 3rd at 5:30pm and departing on Sun. the 5th at 10:00am.

A fun day trip on Saturday could be the aerial tramway (see info here). It's been years since my last trip, but unless things have changed drastically I cannot recommend the food at the top! The trip itself is great fun, unless you have an issue with heights .

And we now have our hotel (ok, crummy motel) reservations too!

I've been to Lyons English Grille, great ambiance (check the pics on their website) food was very good, portions are huge, bar is decent size and separate from the dining room.
Get room reservations in now; Motel 6 is just down the way, advertised for around $74; that's around Easter Break so the rooms will go fast down there.
