    While stag antler buttons have long been the popular trend, I've seen many an older kilt-jacket from the early years of the 20th century that had buttons made of knotted or braided leather (the type you often see on Harris Tweed sportcoats), and there is certainly nothing un-Scottish about the normal horn button (the kind you often see on regular suits or sportcoats).

    In this part of the world "the early years of the 20th century" is considered new!
