Buttons for a charcoal tweed jacket

Which, thanks to the other thread, I can now put in the Braemar rather than Argyle subspecies .

It came with chrome buttons but I'm thinking they look too formal and want to replace with something less showy and more daywear-y.
Anyone have any favorites to share?

Antler is the traditional button for tweed kilt jackets.

While stag antler buttons have long been the popular trend, I've seen many an older kilt-jacket from the early years of the 20th century that had buttons made of knotted or braided leather (the type you often see on Harris Tweed sportcoats), and there is certainly nothing un-Scottish about the normal horn button (the kind you often see on regular suits or sportcoats).

I like the look of anter buttons on tweed argyll jackets. Silver buttons are common on "modern argyll" jackets, which are popular amongst pipe bands in the US.

If the jacket has gauntlet or van Dyke* cuffs, go with antler buttons. If it has regular sleeves and cuffs black leather knotted buttons will look fine

For a Charcoal Braemar I'd have to say go with horn buttons like this one

I have a couple of tweed jackets with leather buttons. The one here is about 50 years old:


They are not as common now as they once were.
