    Cool Goats beware

They may have been bare underneath, but not a bare face amongst them. Those were the days eh, men were men and sheep and goats were afraid LOL. Seriously, thank you for the view into the past and the opportunity to view these gentlemen in all their finery.
    Aye Yours.

Oh how I wish that they turned around and had a picture of their behinds taken!

(For the purposes of seeing if they were wearing box-pleats or knife pleats!!

Given the vintage of these I'd bet they were knife pleats.

I imagine that they were knife pleated, however I have a few bronze sculptures of Highlanders at the hunt done by the sculptors Montgomerie and P.J. Mene (1810-1877), and the figures on all three of these appear to be wearing box-pleated kilts with fairly wide pleats, with long hair sporrans that have the "Prince Charlie" type flap.

These photos are great. I'm struck by the number of hair sporrans, and the HUGE size of some of the sporrans.

Photographs of John Brown, Queen Victoria's personal Highland attendant, resplendant in all his finery. Note the rather unusual 4 button cuff on his doublet, rather than the more typical 3 button arrangement:

Would you consider adding these to the vintage thread instead? Some of the photos you have posted here have already been posted there, those that are not over there would be most welcome as the group has always expressed interest in the Vintage Photo Thread. For that reason the Vintage Thread was made a Sticky so that it would not get lost as threads like this are apt to do. Here is the Address of the Vintage Thread

Please note the photos of John Brown were already posted in the vintage thread
    Here

    and here

Also the photos of the Ghillies at Balmoral and Douglas Hamilton were both posted in the vintage thread as well.
