Thanks Cynthia, as in my edited post - even though nothing was happening on my monitor other than "error on page" apparently it did take.

This concept of being a "fan" and a "page" instead of a group is new to me. As slow as Facebook is on dial up out here in the boonies I don't go there often and it is often an ordeal of waiting when I do.

I get repeated offers to do this or accept this gift, or try this thingie from other folks. But if I say okay then I get a stern warning message that clicking on the thingie offer opens up everything I have to whatever it is....so I've decided to reject all such offers. Hope no one takes it personally.....and that means even hug offers from ladies...just don't understand those various offers or what the point is.

Its also kind of frustrating when I join an area kilt group by invitation to show support that as a result I get a constant stream of invites to go drinking with them. I quit drinking in 1989 for good cause and today in my work I see the devastation of booze on a daily basis. Now considering - just for my own sanity, not for moral reasons - of dropping out of groups that want me to go get drunk and eliminating friends who want to send me a bottle of whisky...makes little sense to me why anyone would broadcast that stuff...not just the booze...the teddy bears etc. But I'm olde and not with it.

No, I understand. The application stuff can be very annoying. I had a handful of them and ended up deleting most (except for two... one is a virtual pet, can't bring myself to delete him yet ).

I think there is an option to -- you must read carefully before you click -- to ignore invitations from that specific application. That way, supposedly you will not see another application invite from that specific application. Now, of course, you'll still get invites from all the 100's of other apps you haven't done this with, but over time the bigger ones will slow down or stop. They seem to go through trends. It seems like everyone on my friendslist will send out for one specific application -- like around Christmas, there was some sort of snowball fight app.

Anyway, hopefully that will help. And yes, most people do realize that there are those who don't do apps. I really only add myself to groups and fan pages of things that really get my interest. I don't add myself to everything that interests me. I'm trying to keep my profile a bit streamlined and small.

As far as the kilt nights with alcohol, I do understand. I drink, but I also understand there are people who don't. I would have no problem planning a kilt night around something non-alcoholic that would be fun for everyone. I will still have some kilt nights at a pub, though... but I respect if those members won't want to go to those.

Edited to add: Okay, I just got an app invite... the phrase you're looking for is "Block this Application". That should block any invites for that application, I believe
