On topic: Females in kilts - not that unusual in the pipe band world. The Louisville Pipe Band is about half female, including our Pipe Sargeant. Several bands in the region have female tenor dummers and pipers. At least one has a female bass drummer!

Pipe bands are no longer only for men, in fact I had a female piper submit an article to my website detailing how much fun she finds it playing alongside the men in her pipe band.

The Dagenham Girl Pipers was an all girl band formed in 1930 in London, and they're still active. Since then there have been many all girl bands, many from Canada such as the Saskatoon Girls PB and Regina Girls PB. Scotland and Ireland also have had quite a few, The Wick All Girls PB for one.
Somewhere on one of my hard drives I have a picture of an All-Girls band marching down the street in Kilts and High Heels, that takes guts. I'm still looking for that pic, if I find it I'll post.

It's not like I would really know who was wearing what, but I just don't seem to have the programming in my brain that has a problem with women wearing kilts or having pipe bands. Kind of neat actually.

Pipe bands wear uniforms -- and "uniform" literally means "the same". So the female pipers wear exactly the same thing that the male pipers wear.
