Quick Kilt Advise
I was just invited to a St Andrews Socity event this evening. I am not sure if this is a Kilted event. Now my main question is would it be ok to wear a Contemporary Kilt ie black Mocker UK, to said event
I really hope some one is here to help me out with this, the event starts in 1 hr, and i cant call the gentleman who invited me

KR,
Sorry for the brief response.
Since time was of the utmost concern I wanted to give you my feedback as quickly as possible. Here is the explanation.
This is a Scottish Society. One of the goals of any such organization is the promotion of Scottish heritage.
Utilikilts are cool and they take a page from traditional Scottish kilts in having a front apron and pleated backs, but they are not Scottish Highland Attire.
To show respect to the organization and my friend I would wear either traditional highland attire or a nice non kilted outfit.
Wearing a Utilikilt is not the way to show respect for Scottish heritage.
I really feel that this is the best course of action.
Cheers
Jamie

Either is probably acceptable, but if this is your first outing with this group it would probably be better to err on the side of trousers, rather than worry about your kilt coming up to snuff.

I think your very best bet is to wear your pants (preferably with other garments like a shirt! ) and go have a pleasant evening.
Check out how everyone else is dressed and use that to base how you should dress next time.
If it was me, I would go in a kilt.
But I would be wearing a hand sewn wool tartan one and my tweed crail jacket to go with it.
If I didn't have these to wear I would wear a nice sport coat and pair of slacks (with shirt and tie ) and check out what sort of kilts (if any) were worn for next time.
What you don't want is to wear an outfit that doesn't measure up to what the membership of the Society is wearing. Better a nice trousered outfit than a poor kilted one.
Have a great time
Cheers
Jamie
